Development & Communications Associate (AmeriCorps VISTA)

SCOPE
South Bronx United (SBU) is seeking enthusiastic and caring individuals with a passion for youth and community development to serve as a Development & Communications Associate through the AmeriCorps program. The Development Associate with support SBU with fundraising and marketing efforts for the organization. The Associate’s primary responsibilities will include: assisting with the planning and implementation of the Annual Benefit and other special events and campaigns, assisting with management of the donor database and donor management systems, supporting grant prospecting and writing, coordinating corporate engagement events and opportunities, and increasing awareness through social media, press releases, blogs, e-newsletters, and more. This role will dual report to the Communications and Outreach Manager and the Senior Development Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals
• Effective in multi-cultural and cross-cultural settings and understanding of individuals of all backgrounds
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and with a developing nonprofit organization
• Flexible and adaptable to work in a variety of settings
• Strong administrative, computer, and writing skills.
• Proficiency with email, Google documents, and Microsoft Office
• Punctual and team-oriented
• (Preferred) Experience in youth development
• (Preferred) Experience working with low-income, at-risk, or immigrant communities

SCHEDULE
The term of service runs one year starting in August/September – mid July. This is a full-time position.

COMPENSATION
• A living stipend of approximately $22,000 for twelve months (exact amounts according to Corporate for National and Community Services AmeriCorps VISTA rates and Up2Us contract)
• An educational award of $5,775 that can be used on student loans or future educational expenses is provided upon successful completion of the 12 month service term
• Health coverage
• Unlimited monthly metro card when in-person programming is operating
