"In 2019, I was fortunate enough to attend Festival 19 in Lyon, France. The festival brought together young athletes like myself from all over the world. Over 300 of us came together to push the agenda on gender equality and women empowerment. Here, I was able to gain the perspective of other athletes who had been victims of gender inequality, how they had faced harsh circumstances, and how they were able to triumph and overcome their experiences to where they are now advocates for promoting gender equality. Hearing others’ perspectives when it came to the inequalities they had faced, opened my eyes, and I left with a deep admiration for their strength and tenacity. When I arrived back in New York, I helped organize Football for Equality, SBU's series of events that promoted gender equity and equality for those at the first level of the playing field." "I started my SBU career almost 10 years ago. A group of friends of mine recommended I tryout for South Bronx United and little did I know it would be the start of an incredible journey. My teammates, coaches, tutors, and counselors have played an important role in who I am today. One of my earliest memories at SBU was being stranded after a game during a snowstorm. We huddled up together and waited to be picked up. South Bronx United offers excellent opportunities for individuals to gain professional experience in the fields of nonprofit management, education, youth development, sports and recreation, and community development. Internships are available both during the summer and the school year. Interns tend to be undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates. Andrew So - Andrew So Executive Director
Prior to founding South Bronx United in 2009 with his wife Steph, Andrew served as a mathematics and special education teacher and administrator at New Day Academy, a public secondary school in the Morrisania neighborhood of the Bronx. He also supported several New York City public schools and their teachers as a math instructional coach. Over the past two decades, Andrew has worked with Bronx youth in other capacities from summer counselor to guidance counselor to athletic coach. He holds a D-level coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation and has coached athletes of various ages and levels. Andrew received a B.S. in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University and earned an M.S.Ed. in Middle School General and Special Education from the Bank Street College of Education in New York. He is an alumnus of the We Are The Bronx Fellowship and the American Express United Way of NYC Leadership Academy. He is a former trustee of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League and former chair of the Bronx Nonprofit Coalition. In 2020, he was named Administrator of the Year by the East New York Youth Soccer Association.

Joshua Guerra - Joshua Guerra Communications and Community Outreach Manager
Josh first joined SBU in 2018 as an AmeriCorps VISTA Associate and stayed on in a new position as Communications and Community Outreach Manager. He brings to his work a passion for storytelling and community development. There are few things Josh thinks about as deeply or as frequently as soccer. It is a profound inspiration and motivation in most of the endeavors to which he commits himself. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the Eugene Lang College for Liberal Arts at The New School, where he majored in Urban Studies.

Andy Jenkins - Andy Jenkins Director of Soccer Programs
Andy joined the SBU team in 2017 after receiving his BSc in Business Management from Queen’s University in his native home, Belfast, Northern Ireland. Football has always been an integral part of Andy’s life from playing to watching to coaching. Andy started his coaching career with Glentoran Football Club and today holds a UEFA B Coaching License. His first venture into US Soccer came in 2014 when he worked for Global Premier Soccer as a Head Coach and Head of Player Development for Wellesley United Soccer. He also served as a Head Coach and Regional Manager for Liverpool FC NJ. As SBU’s Director of Soccer Programs, Andy oversees all on-field programs, providing support and guidance to our Recreational and Travel coaches.

George Nantwi - George Nantwi SBU Academy Master Coach
George joined South Bronx United in 2009, the organization’s inaugural year, as its first U16 travel soccer coach. Since then, he has coached both girls, boys, and mens teams, and also assisted on a volunteer basis with coordination of the Travel Soccer Program. He is a graduate of Saint Peter’s University in New Jersey, where he majored in political science. He works as a researcher at the EdLab at Columbia University Teacher’s College currently focusing on Understanding Fiscal Responsibility, a multi million dollar grant aimed at teaching the federal budget, national debt and deficit to junior and high school students. George grew up in the Bronx in a Ghanaian family and attended DeWitt Clinton High School.

Reindorf Kyei - Reindorf Kyei Soccer Operations Coordinator
Reindorf is an alum of South Bronx United's SBU Academy. He joined the organized in high school shortly after moving to the Bronx. Although born in Ghana, Reindorf spent much of his childhood in Italy where he picked up his love for soccer. Reindorf graduated from Bloomfield College with a degree in Business and joined the SBU staff team in 2020. As the Soccer Operations Coordinator, he oversees all operational aspects of the organization's travel and community soccer programs from purchasing to scheduling to transportation.

His clients have included the Soros Foundations, The U.S. Soccer Federation, Columbia Artists Management, Inc., various Olympians, professional soccer players in the EPL, Bundesliga and La Liga and world champion athletes, and the Rainforest Foundation. He is also a founder and director of InterFysio, LLC, a healthcare staffing company that employs physical therapists, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.

Stephen J. Burstin Founder, Steve's Soccer Tots Stephen Burnstin brings to South Bronx United a life-long passion for soccer, combined with a dedication to serving his community. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors, Steve most recently ran, organized and expanded the recreational soccer program. Steve has over 30 years of playing experience and has been a coach for more than 20 years. He currently holds multiple coaching accreditations from NSCCA. Steve received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington and earned his Juris Doctorate at the Cardozo School of Law in New York City. Before founding Steve's Soccer Tots, he practiced law at Wilson, Elser LLP. Stephen served on the South Bronx United Board of Directors from 2009 to 2016.

Dave Hahn Talent Strategist, TGS Management Company Dave Hahn played soccer throughout his childhood in New Jersey and is dismayed at how soccer has become a pay-to-play sport in most communities. As a result, he is passionate about bringing the beautiful game to the South Bronx and utilizing it as a force for social good. Dave received a degree in philosophy from Columbia University and has previously worked as a recruiter at Two Sigma Investments, AQR, and Grady Levkov and Co. He also DJs on the local music scene and is an avid guitarist and manager of the band Dub is a Weapon. Dave served on South Bronx United's Board of Directors from 2009 to 2020 and served as board chair from 2013 to 2019.

Paul Levinsohn Co-Founder and Managing Principal, New York City Regional Center Paul Levinsohn is an attorney and businessman involved in numerous real estate financing and private equity transactions over the past 25 years. He is the Co-Founder and Managing Principal of the New York City Regional Center (NYCRC) which has provided over $1.5 billion of capital to help fund a broad spectrum of infrastructure and real estate projects in New York City. In addition to fueling economic development and creating jobs, NYCRC offerings have also enabled over 4,650 individuals from around the world to become permanent residents of the United States through the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. Mr. Levinsohn’s career also includes public service. In 2002, he was appointed Chief Counsel to the Governor of New Jersey. Under this post, Mr. Levinsohn oversaw legal operations for the Governor’s Office. From 1995 to 1997, he served as a law clerk for Judge Anne E. Thompson, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Prior to entering law school, Mr. Levinsohn was a charter corps member of Teach for America, a national teacher corps program that places teachers in rural and inner-city school districts. While participating in the program, he taught American History in a public high school in Warren County, North Carolina. Mr. Levinsohn holds three degrees from Duke University. He previously served a term as a member of the Duke University Board of Trustees.

Sina Toussi Chief Investment Officer, Two Seas Capital Sina Toussi is the founder of Two Seas Capital, an investment fund that focuses on litigation-driven investments arising from restructurings, bankruptcies, commercial disputes, corporate malfeasance, and regulatory events. Previously, he served as Managing Director and Chief Legal Officer of VR Capital Group, an alternative asset manager focused on distressed securities and event-driven/special situations investments. He spent his childhood years living in the Morris Heights section of the South Bronx after his family immigrated from Iran. He has also been a lifelong soccer fan and player. Mr. Toussi's other prior roles include serving as a Partner and General Counsel at One East Capital Advisors, a multi-strategy and event-driven hedge fund; a Vice President and Special Counsel to the Chairman at MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings; and an Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom where he focused on M&A and corporate restructuring. Samuel Lynch - Samuel Lynch Grants Coordinator Sam moved into the Grants Coordinator role in 2022 after spending a year as South Bronx United’s AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer and Community Outreach Associate. Sam is an avid long distance runner having competed collegiately while attending Yale University and traveled with the organization Free to Run to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Miriam Pedraza - Miriam Pedraza Immigration Services Program Manager
Miriam joined South Bronx United in 2022 as the Immigration Services Program Manager. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Mercy College and earned her Master of Social Work from Lehman College. Miriam has experience working with unaccompanied minors providing Case Management and Clinical Services. When she is not at work, Miriam dedicates her time as a volunteer visiting detainees in ICE detention centers as a way to bring hope and provide emotional support to those in need. Miriam's passion for working with immigrant families is fueled by her background; as a daughter of immigrant parents. Miriam is presently a licensed social worker, working towards becoming Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited. Miriam is fluent in English and Spanish.

Alex Brashear Robinhood Alex Brashear began volunteering with SBU as a U-8 girls rec coach in the Spring of 2018, and now coaches the U-10 and U-13 boys rec teams and helps SBU’s high schoolers prepare for the SAT. Playing soccer his entire life and teaching in some capacity for the last decade, Alex found coaching to be the perfect combination of these two passions. He is currently a Product Manager for the New York Times focusing on their mobile apps. Alex earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.

Brendan Chu AB InBev Brendan Chu began his involvement with South Bronx United in 2014 volunteering as Academic Coach for middle school students. Brendan currently tutors high school sophomores and coaches a U16 recreational team. In early 2021, Brendan joined the Supporters Club Board. He was initially attracted to South Bronx United's unique mission of using Soccer as a means of education and social change. Currently, Brendan is an Experienced Associate in PwC's Forensics Advisory Practice where he specializes in fraud and economic crime investigations and regulatory compliance. Brendan graduated with honors from Fordham University in 2018 studying finance, accounting, and business law. In his free time, Brendan can be found reading, running, practicing pottery, playing soccer, and rooting for his favorite club, Chelsea FC.

Binnur Dogan, Vice Chair JP Morgan With Palestinian and Turkish heritage, Binnur Dogan experienced firsthand how soccer can unite communities, especially during challenging times. This inspired her to join South Bronx United as a U5 rec coach in Spring 2023. Moved by the organization’s mission to support youth development and build community through soccer, Binnur joined the Supporters Club in 2024. A 2021 graduate of Ithaca College with a degree in business administration, she began her career as an advisor with JPMorgan’s Private Bank and is now an associate in data analytics and marketing at JPMorganChase’s Commercial and Investment Bank. In her free time, Binnur serves on the organizing committee of the Palestinian Youth Movement’s New York chapter and volunteers with NYU’s Islamic Center and the Asiyah Women’s Center.

Alexander Ellsworth Major League Soccer Alexander Ellsworth joined SBU as a U-15 boys rec coach in the Spring of 2023. While soccer is one of many passions, Alexander is a marketing professional, currently at HelloFresh and previously at L’Oreal. Alexander earned his undergraduate degree in Economics at Purdue University where he was proud to be part of the DI Track & Field team. He still likes to run and recently qualified for the 2025 New York City Marathon. Alexander describes himself as a life-long volunteer and believes in the power of community. Arsenal and the Knicks are at the top of the many sports and teams he supports.

Matt Freese New York City FC After moving across the country several times by the age of 8, I finally found my home in the Philadelphia suburbs. I grew up with a love of sports as well as a love for the classroom and found that there are connections between the lessons learned in both settings that are not spoken about enough. After graduating from high school, I attended Harvard University where I studied Economics. After one and a half years, I took a voluntary leave of absence to sign a professional contract in the MLS with the Philadelphia Union and played there for four years. During my time there, I finished my degree at Harvard by flying up to campus to take exams and meet with professors. I negotiated a trade to New York City FC in 2023, have been here ever since, and now after settling in am looking to get further involved in the community.

Michael Galardi, Volunteer Liaison Charlesbank Capital Partners Michael Galardi is a Vice President within the Credit Opportunities group at Charlesbank Capital Partners where he focuses on opportunistic and special situations investments across the capital structure. Prior to Charlesbank, he worked at Greenhill & Co. and FTI Consulting. Michael earned his BA in Philosophy from Wake Forest University in 2017. Originally from Delaware, Michael is a lifelong soccer player and fan, who enjoys cooking and traveling in his spare time.

Channon Greenfield NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Channon Greenfield is a Project Coordinator for the New York City Department of Mental Health and Hygiene conducting behavioral surveillance and monitoring of infectious diseases in New York City after working on several HIV/AIDS research studies. Channon is responsible for coordinating formative research including key informant interviews, focus group discussions and other qualitative research methods as well as implementing respondent-driven sampling to assess risk behavior, HIV prevalence and other HIV-related outcomes in order to guide future prevention methods in New York City. Channon earned his B.A. in Sociology from the University at Albany. In his free time, Channon enjoys reading, running and playing soccer for Metro Soccer NY.

John Hewertson PJT Partners John Hewertson joined South Bronx United as a U-19 boys rec coach in 2015, and the Supporters Club Board in 2021. He is a Vice President on Goldman Sachs' Firmwide Strategy team and continues to coach U-19 boys. John previously worked in Citi's Financial Institutions Group, which he joined from college. He moved to New York in 2015 after graduating from Penn State with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He's been a New York Road Runner since 2017 and ran the 2019 and 2021 New York Marathons. Originally from Allentown PA, his extended family lives in Australia and the U.K.

Julian Kershaw-Weih Verance Capital Julian Kershaw-Weih joined the Supporters Club Board in 2022 after his first year of coaching in SBU's recreational division and seeing the incredible impact of the program. Julian is a Principal at Verance Capital where he works across sports, media and entertainment, and through which he serves as a Board Member of League One Volleyball, a mission-led sports performance, training and media enterprise shaping the future of U.S. women's volleyball. Julian also runs 49th Parallel, a non-profit events company focused on raising funds for organizations in the New York area. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Julian graduated with Honors from McGill University before ultimately moving to New York in 2017. When not on the field, Julian loves to travel, hike, play music and explore new restaurants in the city.

Trish graduated from Northwestern University in 2019 where she majored in Industrial Engineering, with a minor in Economics, and was part of the Northwestern Women’s Club Soccer Team. She is originally from New Jersey and enjoys reading, running, hiking, and traveling.

Peter Martin, Membership Chair New York Yankees Peter Martin grew up in Summit, New Jersey, and went to Macalester College where he played soccer, and graduated Cum Laude. He attended law school at Vanderbilt University and worked for nearly six years as an associate at Proskauer Rose LLP. He recently left that position to take his current role with the New York Yankees. His wife, Katie Martin, is also an attorney and is an associate at Latham & Watkins LLP.

Carson Miller IBM Carson Miller began volunteering with SBU as a girls U8 rec coach. She grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico where she saw firsthand the power that soccer and sports in general have to open doors and bring people of different backgrounds together. This inspired her to pursue a career in the sports industry. She graduated from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania where she majored in Management and Operations & Information Systems. While at Penn she worked for the Wharton Sports Business Initiative where she continued to develop a passion for the industry. Today, she works as a Managing Consultant for IBM's Sports and Entertainment Practice delivering digital fan experiences for properties such as The Masters, US Open and Wimbledon.

Raymond Moya New York Road Runners Raymond Moya started his SBU journey as an Education Volunteer in 2019. Through the AmeriCorps program he was the Volunteer and Community Outreach Associate from 2022 to 2024. He currently works at New York Road Runners as the Community Programs Associate. Raymond fell in love with the universal language that is soccer in the summer of 2010 through the South Africa World Cup. He supports Chelsea FC, the US soccer men’s and women’s teams, and is an avid supporter and season ticket holder of New York City FC since its inception. He holds degrees in Intelligence Operations (A.A.S), English (B.A.), and Philosophy (B.A.) from Fordham University. Raymond is a part-time avid reader and creative writer; born and raised in the Bronx.

Ninad Nirgudkar BCG Ninad Nirgudkar began volunteering with SBU in the fall of 2020 and now coaches both a boys U-13 and U-16 team. Ninad was drawn to SBU due to the unique intersection of their mission with his favorite sport and the impact that they were able to have on their community. He is currently an associate at BCG working as a general strategy consultant and previously worked as a Consultant at Oliver Wyman, again doing general strategy consulting. Ninad graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Astrophysics and Applied Mathematics. In his free time, Ninad can be found biking around Manhattan, trying out complicated new recipes with friends, and of course playing soccer.

Kenna Pollard NYU Langone I was born and raised outside of Columbus, Ohio, where my family still resides. Soccer has been a passion of mine since I was 5 years old, playing competitively until I got to college at the University of Richmond where I decided just to focus on my pre-med work. Although I don’t play competitively anymore, I deeply miss the sport that shaped a large part of who I am. When I moved to NYC for my graduate program 4 years ago, I was looking for a way to get involved with coaching soccer–that is when I stumbled upon SBU. As someone who is passionate about both soccer and teaching/education, I was immediately drawn to SBU’s mission. Since then, I have volunteered as a tutor, coach, college prep mentor, and college success mentor over the last 3 years. I am continually inspired by the relationships that I have formed with the students I’ve mentored and the kids that I’ve coached. Apart from SBU, I am hoping to pursue a career in medicine, with plans to apply to medical school next year. I currently work as a clinical research coordinator in the Intensive Care Unit at NYU Langone. In my free time I love to cook, play guitar, exercise, and explore the incredible NYC food scene!

Mike Peña Goldman Sachs Mike Peña is an Analyst in Macro Credit Trading at Goldman Sachs where he focuses on opportunistic bond trading and portfolio management. Previously, Mike worked in the Institutional Lending Group at Goldman Sachs doing structured credit investing and at New Heights Capital doing middle market private equity investing. Mike joined South Bronx United as part of the travel team in 2010, since then he has been actively involved with supporting the organization. Mike is a SBU College Scholar. Mike earned a Master of Science in Quantitative Finance and a Double Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics with Minors in Finance and Management & Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2017.

Ryan Schlaepfer, Chair League Apps Ryan Schlaepfer joined the Supporters Club board in 2023 after a year of coaching in SBU’s U8 Rec Program. Ryan works at LeagueApps, a venture-backed sports technology company where his focus is on Go To Market Project Management. Prior to LeagueApp, Ryan worked at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) on their Sports Property Sales team. In addition to SBU, he currently serves as a Board Member for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s Young Professionals of New York City, a pediatric cancer research charity. Ryan is a graduate of Temple University and currently lives in Manhattan. In his spare time, he can be found watching Formula 1, the Premier League (Go Tottenham), or reading.

Sam Choi Independent Sam Choi is a retired bond trader. He has worked on the sell-side at firms including J.P. Morgan and Bear Stearns, and he has worked on the buy-side as a portfolio manager at two hedge funds. Sam is a first generation immigrant, like many of the children who benefit from the programs at South Bronx United, and he is passionate about helping foster academic and athletic opportunities for immigrants. Sam is a graduate of MIT with an undergraduate degree in mathematics. Sam joined the Board of Directors in 2022.

Nick Ohler William Blair Nick Ohler is a Director in the Private Capital Advisory group at William Blair, where he focuses on advising General Partners on fundraising processes and managing institutional limited partner relationships in the Northeastern U.S. and Eastern Canada. He previously held similar roles at Houlihan Lokey, Atlantic-Pacific Capital and Stanwich Advisors. Nick graduated from Bucknell University with a B.A. in Economics and Spanish. He is an avid soccer fan and loves Liverpool F.C. He joined the Board of Directors in 2024.

Mike Peña Citadel Securities Mike Peña is an Analyst in Macro Credit Trading at Goldman Sachs where he focuses on opportunistic bond trading and portfolio management. Previously, Mike worked in the Institutional Lending Group at Goldman Sachs doing structured credit investing and at New Heights Capital doing middle market private equity investing. Mike joined South Bronx United as part of the travel team in 2010, since then he has been actively involved with supporting the organization. He started on the Supporters Club Board and Alumni Council and joined the Board of Directors in 2025 as the Supporters Club Board Liaison. Mike earned a Master of Science in Quantitative Finance and a Double Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics with Minors in Finance and Management & Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2017.

Quincy also spent approximately 5 years working as a restructuring investment banker at Rothschild & Co. and Houlihan Lokey. Quincy Evans is a Bronx native, and alum of the Prep for Prep. Upon completing Prep for Prep, Quincy attended Phillips Academy (Andover). Quincy graduated from Harvard University with a BA in Economics (with honors), and later from Wharton with an MBA in Finance.

Nicole Faurot, Secretary The Riverside Company Nicole Faurot is a Fundraising & Investor Relations Director at the Riverside Company. She was previously Partner and Head of Investor Relations and Business Development at Marlowe Partners. Prior to joining Marlowe in 2015, Ms. Faurot spent over five years at Centerbridge Partners, L.P. where she was a Principal in investor relations. Prior to joining Centerbridge, Ms. Faurot worked at Morgan Stanley as an associate in business development and strategic acquisitions and as an investment banking analyst in their Latin America Group. Previously, Ms. Faurot worked as an investment banking summer analyst at Bear Stearns in their Leveraged Finance Group. Ms. Faurot is on the Emory University Alumni Board, chaired the Emory Alumnae and Women in New York for nearly a decade. She teaches financial literacy for High Water Women, was the treasurer of the young professionals board of the Committee for Hispanic Children and Families and has worked with the Taproot Foundation, Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, and the Valerie Fund among others. Ms. Faurot graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Emory University with a B.A. in Spanish and Interdisciplinary Studies and serves on the Alumni Board. She joined the South Bronx United Board of Directors in 2019.

Matt Ross MAR Partners, Patoma Partners Matt Ross joined the Board of Directors in 2022 and has volunteered with the organization, as a coach and/or tutor, since 2015. He is passionate about urban development and youth flourishment. Matt is a founder and managing partner of MAR Partners, a real estate investment and development company founded in 2010. Directly or through affiliates, he manages multifamily apartment investments in emerging urban areas of Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Austin/San Antonio, and Denver. Previously, Matt co-founded Patoma, a full service real estate development, construction, and management firm based in Brooklyn. He graduated cum laude from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 2004 where he received a B.S. in Economics. In addition to South Bronx United, Matt's volunteer and philanthropic support extends to organizations focused on urban youth development as well as mindfulness meditation and its related scientific research.

AJ Reisman Arbor Platform AJ Reisman is a mortgage investor at BlackRock and has been with the firm since 2009. AJ is the head of Impact for BlackRock’s Giving and Volunteering Committee, has been the captain of the BlackRock soccer team since 2010, and is a member of BlackRock's People Committee. He has served as a regional advocate for Doctors Without Borders, a soccer coach with South Bronx United, and a big brother with the Jewish Board of Family and Services.AJ graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Policy Analysis and Management. He’s received certificates from Seth Godin’s altMBA and from Middlebury College in Impact Investing and Social Enterprise Management. AJ currently resides on the Upper East Side with his wife and young daughter, prefers to wear Patagonia, avoids unnecessary harm to the environment and animals whenever possible, enjoys photography, and hiking.

Derrick Johnson BlackRock Derrick Johnson is the head of BlackRock’s U.S. Derivative Documentation where he provides business and operational support with regard to trading documentation. Prior to joining BlackRock, Derrick was Director of Derivative Documentation at HypoVereinsbank, New York Branch and a Vice President in the Legal Department at Deutsche Bank, AG. He began his career at Caisse de Depot et de onsignation/CDCFinancial Products, Inc and Natwest Capital Markets. Derrick earned a B.A. in Political Science from Columbia University where he was a Columbia University Club Foundation Scholar and a member of the Men’s Basketball Team. He loves the way South Bronx United uses soccer to build character, teamwork, and leadership skills in young people. Derrick is formerly a Board Member of Bottom Line, Inc., New York.

Zac Rubin Upper 90 Zac Rubin is the founder and owner of Upper 90 retail stores and soccer centers. Upper 90 has four locations throughout the New York metropolitan area serving as New York’s source for the latest in soccer jerseys, footwear and equipment as well as host to soccer games on several indoor and outdoor fields. Zac also opened and operates the Vineapple Cafe in Brooklyn and the Crossbar Cafe on the Upper West Side.

Pranav Sawjiany Davidson Kempner Capital Management Pranav Sawjiany, a lifelong soccer fan, has been volunteering with South Bronx United since 2010. He helped coordinate the Recreational Soccer Program in its early years, coached multiple recreational soccer teams, and started as a member of the SBU Junior Board. He previously worked as a Senior Associate at BlackRock and at Morgan Stanley in New York. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and and M.S in Financial Engineering from Cornell University. Having lived in several countries including India, Belgium, South Africa and Japan, Pranav loves how the beautiful game brings people from diverse cultures and backgrounds together, just like SBU does in the South Bronx community.

Jon Lee Cohen & Steers Jon Lee joined the Board of Directors in 2016 and served as Board Chair from 2020 to 2025. He is a Senior Vice President and Head of Sales Enablement at Cohen & Steers. He was previously Vice President of Client Intelligence and CRM at Sotheby's and responsible for sales data project management and business analysis as Vice President at PIMCO. Jon has also led web and mobile initiatives for a diverse array of companies in the corporate, educational, and non-profit sectors, including Harvard University, Putnam Investments, and GBC Health. His involvement in corporate social responsibility, as well as his appreciation for international football, began over 20 years ago, when Jon was a Rotary Youth Exchange student in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He has also served in the US Peace Corps, mentored students through Year Up, and has managed several events for PIMCO Foundation since 2012. Jon is an NYCFC founding member and season ticket-holder, and strongly believes that New York is #blue.

Andrew So, Executive Director South Bronx United Prior to founding South Bronx United in 2009 with his wife Steph, Andrew So served as a mathematics and special education teacher and administrator at New Day Academy, a public secondary school in the Morrisania neighborhood of the Bronx. He also supported several New York City public schools and their teachers as a math instructional coach. Over the past 10 years, Andrew has worked with Bronx youth in other capacities from summer counselor to guidance counselor to athletic coach. He holds a D-level coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation and has coached athletes of various ages and levels. He is an alumnus of the We Are The Bronx Fellowship, a partnership between the Jewish Community Relations Council's Cause-NY, Hostos Community College, and the Bronx Borough President's Office. He is a former trustee of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League and former chair of the Bronx Nonprofit Coalition, and was named the US Youth Soccer East Region Administrator of the Year in 2020. Andrew received a B.S. in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University and earned an M.S.Ed. in Middle School General and Special Education from the Bank Street College of Education in New York.

She has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat New Orleans and Amigos de las Americas and has also supported a Mother's Wish in the Dominican Republic. With over 15 years of experience in Marketing, E-Commerce, Creative, Digital and Strategy roles, Steph has worked with brands including Ralph Lauren, Cover FX Skincare, Extend Fertility, Estée Lauder, ShopBop.com, and Bain and Company. She currently serves as the Chief Growth Officer for Shake Shack. Steph received her Bachelor's Degree from Stanford University and earned a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. She also served as a Board Member for the Manhattan Country School for several years.

Jeff Sterrett, Chair Quadpoint Partners Jeff Sterrett first became involved with South Bronx United as a recreational league coach in 2013, and has also been a member of the junior board. He was an avid soccer player in his youth, and today can often be found cheering against whoever is ahead of Tottenham in the Premier League table. Jeff is currently a private equity investor at Quadpoint Partners. He has previously worked at Insight Equity, Morgan Stanley, and Lindsay Goldberg. Jeff received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He also graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a BA in Philosophy.

Hanan Thabet, Vice-Chair International Education Consultant For over a decade, Hanan Thabet has worked in the field of international educational and student exchange, and currently has her own private international education consulting practice working with corporate and government clients. A life long New Yorker, Hanan also lived in Egypt for 6 years where she completed her bachelor’s degree and worked as a teacher at a private international school in Cairo. Hanan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Middle East Studies from the American University in Cairo a Master of Arts in Near East Studies from New York University. Hanan’s love for soccer started at an early age, after attending several World Cup games with her parents when the event was hosted in the U.S. in 1994. Hanan joined the board in 2014.

Kerry Van Voris Checkout.com An avid soccer player since the age of six, Kerry Van Voris was a high-school All American midfielder and attributes her love of athletics and the outdoors to soccer. She has served on the boards of Youth Venture Seattle and Changing Lives Nepal. Prior to serving as Chief People Officer at Checkout.com, she served in the same role at Oscar Health. Kerry has also served in roles at Amazon, Bridgewater Associates and in the mergers and acquisitions department at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, WA. Kerry has a marketing and business development background, having worked for small businesses in Seattle and, before moving to the Pacific Northwest, led the outdoor sports marketing efforts at Berkeley based and leading energy bar maker, Clif Bar. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, she spent a year as an AmeriCorps volunteer, working as the head case manager and intake counselor at the Center for HIV/AIDS in Oakland, CA.

Mila Yankova Capital Group Mila Yankova fell in love with football in 1993 when her native home of Bulgaria qualified for the World Cup. Against all odds, the country finished 4th bringing a ray of light to a turbulent, divided society. As a true New Yorker, Mila believes that all children living in New York City should be given a chance to succeed. She has over ten years of experience on Wall Street, previously selling emerging markets equities at Barclays. She attended the University of Chicago on a full scholarship where she received a Bachelor's degree in Economics. She has also volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring recent immigrant students. Mila joined the Board of Directors in 2015.

Precious Agyeman USI Insurance Services Precious Agyeman-Badu is a former SBU Academy student-athlete and member of the SBU Girls Under-19 team. She joined the organization Fall 2016 and has remained an active alumna. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University at Albany, SUNY. Currently, she is a Senior Associate at USI Insurance Services and enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and teaching others about budgeting.

Ronny Delgado Zavala PricewaterhouseCoopers Ronny Delgado joined the South Bronx United Alumni Council in 2025. He has been a part of the SBU community since he joined teh SBU Academy after arriving from Ecuador. In 2023, he was named a regional awardee for the ESPN Billie Jean King Youth Leadership Award and was the 2022 South Bronx United Alumni Honoree. Ronny graduated from Mercy University with a degree in accounting. He stayed at Mercy University to work as a Treasury Analyst and attend graduate school. He also formerly served as SBU's office coordinator.

Latif Diaoune Fordham University (Graduate Student) Latif Diaoune began his journey with South Bronx United at the age of 11, devoting seven formative years to playing on the 02 travel team. Latif graduated from Fordham University in 2024 with dual degrees in General Sciences and Sociology on a premed track, Latif is driven by a profound commitment to serve his community. Inspired by his experiences with SBU, Latif is determined to become a physician and serve the underserved population in his hometown. Christstely Mboungou University of Maine System Christ Mboungou, a former SBU Striker renowned for his exceptional prowess on the soccer field, made a lasting impact during his time as a player. He became part of the SBU family in 2009, crafting memories that would last a lifetime. With a heartfelt sense of gratitude, he came back to the organization that instilled his passion for the sport, embodying the idea of giving back. Equipped with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Systems from thre SUNY Polytechnic Institute, followed by a Master’s in Software Development, his journey transitioned from the soccer field to the realm of technology. He now works as a programmer analyst for the State of Maine while living in Augusta. Today, Christ dedicates his expertise and experience as the Chairman of the Alumni Council, ensuring SBU Alumni continue to thrive.

Mike Peña Citadel Securities Mike Peña is a Vice President in Credit Trading at Goldman Sachs where he focuses on opportunistic bond trading and portfolio management. Previously, Mike worked in the Institutional Lending Group at Goldman Sachs doing structured credit investing and at New Heights Capital doing middle market private equity investing. Mike joined South Bronx United as part of the travel team in 2010, since then he has been actively involved with supporting the organization. Since 2018, he has been the sold alumni member of the SBU Supporters Club Board. Mike earned a Master of Science in Quantitative Finance and a Double Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics with minors in Finance and Management & Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2017.

Lesley Miron NYU Silver School of Social Work, Student Lesley Miron was born and raised in the Bronx, and will soon be a first generation college graduate. She is currently in her third year at New York University majoring in social work at the Silver School of Social Work. Lesley became part of the South Bronx United Academy at the age of 14 and graduated as part of the SBU Academy Class of 2021. Since then, she has tried to give back to the SBU community as much as possible. Lesley also was the South Bronx United Alumni Honoree in 2023.

Minkael Soumah proSapient Minkael Soumah joined South Bronx United at the age of 13, joining SBU's 98' travel team. After a few years of playing with SBU, he received an opportunity to attend Northfield Mount Hermon through the direction and guidance of SBU faculty and mentors. After graduating in 2019, he attended Kenyon College, where he pursued a degree in International Studies while playing soccer at a collegiate level. He recently started as a client services associate at proSapient, while residing in North Carolina. Minka returned to serve on the Alumni Council, committed to playing an active role on the committee and offer his voice to bridge and foster Alum's relationship with the organization.

Currently, he is transitioning away from Columbia University to fully lead his own company, LAV Contracting LLC, specializing in interior apartment renovations in the Tristate area. Leo's passion for finance and business traces back to his early years when he assisted his father with accounting at their family-owned business. This early exposure ignited his enthusiasm for numbers and business, leading him to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the City College of New York before embarking on his career at Columbia University. Beyond his professional life, Leo enjoys traveling, participating in various sports, and engaging in outdoor activities.

Elías Perez Zetune - Elías Perez Zetune Coach-Mentor Program Associate
Elías is a Gettysburg, Pennsylvania native and a proud Chicano. He started coaching in the fall of 2017 while working at Biglerville High School and Upper Adams Middle School as an assistant ELL teacher. His coaching journey then took him to Keystone FC and most recently to Morris Elite SC where he served as the Zone 1 Director of the club. Elías holds several coaching licenses and certificates and in 2021 was part of United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Cohort, a national recognition for up and coming coaches. He is passionate about youth development and immigration reform.

Academically, Liliana holds an M.S. in Human Resource Management with a concentration in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Touro University Worldwide (Summa Cum Laude), an M.P.A. in Health Policy and Management from NYU, and a B.A. in Sociology from Cornell University (Cum Laude).
