Precious Agyeman
USI Insurance Services
Precious Agyeman-Badu is a former SBU Academy student-athlete and member of the SBU Girls Under-19 team. She joined the organization Fall 2016 and has remained an active alumna. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University at Albany, SUNY. Currently, she is a Senior Associate at USI Insurance Services and enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and teaching others about budgeting.
Gnim Bazim
Fordham University School of Law (J.D. Student)
Gnim Bazimhas been a dedicated member of the South Bronx United community for over 10 years. Originally joining South Bronx United at the age of 12, Gnim's journey took him from the soccer field to a distinguished path in academia. After pursuing an education at Mercersburg Academy and Muhlenberg College, Gnim now finds himself in his third year at Fordham School of Law. As a first-generation immigrant, Gnim shares a unique bond with many of the children who benefit from South Bronx United's programs, and he is deeply committed to fostering academic and athletic opportunities for immigrants. With a notable role on the alumni council for Mercersburg Academy, Gnim brings his energy and dedication to the organization, strengthening connections among fellow alumni and supporting the mission of empowerment through soccer and education
Ronny Delgado Zavala
Mercy University
Ronny Delgado joined the South Bronx United Alumni Council in 2025. He has been a part of the SBU community since he joined teh SBU Academy after arriving from Ecuador. In 2023, he was named a regional awardee for the ESPN Billie Jean King Youth Leadership Award and was the 2022 South Bronx United Alumni Honoree. Ronny graduated from Mercy University with a degree in accounting. He stayed at Mercy University to work as a Treasury Analyst and attend graduate school. He also formerly served as SBU's office coordinator.
Latif Diaoune
Fordham University (Graduate Student)
Latif Diaoune began his journey with South Bronx United at the age of 11, devoting seven formative years to playing on the 02 travel team. Latif graduated from Fordham University in 2024 with dual degrees in General Sciences and Sociology on a premed track, Latif is driven by a profound commitment to serve his community. Inspired by his experiences with SBU, Latif is determined to become a physician and serve the underserved population in his hometown. Grateful for the mentorship and opportunities he received, Latif actively engages with the Alumni Council, striving to ensure that future generations benefit from the same support and sense of community that shaped his SBU experience.
Nourou Gaiya
Colorado Dept of Human Services
Nourou Gaiya is the Executive Assistant to Director of Business Innovation, Technology and Security at the Colorado Department of Human Services. Originally from Niger, Nourou started his journey with South Bronx United when he was just 10 years old. He attended the City College of New York and earned a B.A. in International Relations.
Christstely Mboungou
State of Maine
Christ Mboungou, a former SBU Striker renowned for his exceptional prowess on the soccer field, made a lasting impact during his time as a player. He became part of the SBU family in 2009, crafting memories that would last a lifetime. With a heartfelt sense of gratitude, he came back to the organization that instilled his passion for the sport, embodying the idea of giving back. Equipped with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Systems from thre SUNY Polytechnic Institute, followed by a Master’s in Software Development, his journey transitioned from the soccer field to the realm of technology. He now works as a programmer analyst for the State of Maine while living in Augusta. Today, Christ dedicates his expertise and experience as the Chairman of the Alumni Council, ensuring SBU Alumni continue to thrive.
Lesley Miron
New York University (Student)
Lesley Miron was born and raised in the Bronx, and will soon be a first generation college graduate. She is currently in her third year at New York University majoring in social work at the Silver School of Social Work. Lesley became part of the South Bronx United Academy at the age of 14 and graduated as part of the SBU Academy Class of 2021. Since then, she has tried to give back to the SBU community as much as possible. Lesley also was the South Bronx United Alumni Honoree in 2023.
Mike Peña is a Vice President in Credit Trading at Goldman Sachs where he focuses on opportunistic bond trading and portfolio management. Previously, Mike worked in the Institutional Lending Group at Goldman Sachs doing structured credit investing and at New Heights Capital doing middle market private equity investing. Mike joined South Bronx United as part of the travel team in 2010, since then he has been actively involved with supporting the organization. Since 2018, he has been the sold alumni member of the SBU Supporters Club Board. Mike earned a Master of Science in Quantitative Finance and a Double Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics with minors in Finance and Management & Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2017.
Minkael Soumah joined South Bronx United at the age of 13, joining SBU's 98' travel team. After a few years of playing with SBU, he received an opportunity to attend Northfield Mount Hermon through the direction and guidance of SBU faculty and mentors. After graduating in 2019, he attended Kenyon College, where he pursued a degree in International Studies while playing soccer at a collegiate level. He recently started as a client services associate at proSapient, while residing in North Carolina. Minka returned to serve on the Alumni Council, committed to playing an active role on the committee and offer his voice to bridge and foster Alum's relationship with the organization.
Leudy Veras
Double Discovery Center at Columbia University
Leudy Veras is the Finance and Analytics Manager at the Double Discovery Center, a non-profit organization affiliated with Columbia University. With over six years of experience in finance across various university departments, he has been actively involved in projects aimed at streamlining workflows and improving financial reporting for more informed decision-making. Currently, he is transitioning away from Columbia University to fully lead his own company, LAV Contracting LLC, specializing in interior apartment renovations in the Tristate area. Leo's passion for finance and business traces back to his early years when he assisted his father with accounting at their family-owned business. This early exposure ignited his enthusiasm for numbers and business, leading him to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the City College of New York before embarking on his career at Columbia University. Beyond his professional life, Leo enjoys traveling, participating in various sports, and engaging in outdoor activities.
