COMMITMENT
Mentors commit to holding at least one meeting, remote or in-person, per month with their mentee. Each mentor is required to attend an orientation with the College Success Coordinator. Mentors are expected to commit to at least one academic year of support (September- May) ; since pairings are rolling and made according to the career interests of the alumnus, the start of a mentoring year may vary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Mentors will often be matched with a mentee who has career interest in the same professional area. Ideally mentors have served as mentors or managers in other professional contexts.
TRAINING
An orientation and training will be held with the College Success Coordinator and Director of College Guidance and Alumni.
BENEFITS
In addition to helping provide the resources and support to allow underserved students to thrive in school, SBU is happy to connect with your school to see if your volunteer hours can work towards school service or academic requirements.
