Pro Bono Attorney - Immigration Legal Services
OVERVIEW
Pro bono attorneys and other volunteers are sought to assist SBU families with immigration-related legal matters. South Bronx United is recognized by the Office of Legal Access Programs (OLAP) at the Department of Justice (DOJ) allowing designated SBU staff to practice immigration law and represent youth, families, and the community in proceedings before Immigration Court and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). SBU primarily manages immigration cases and provides information sessions on relevant immigrant issues to youth and families in other SBU programs.

TRAINING
An orientation and training will be held with the Immigration Services Program Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior immigration or legal experience preferred, as well as the following skills and qualifications:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
Ability to work well independently and with others
Proficient in Microsoft programs
Posses or are currently completing a bachelor's or another post-secondary degree
Commitment to serving low-income immigrants
