Special Event Volunteer
OVERVIEW
Each year SBU seeks volunteers for single events. Volunteer service is generally sought only for the duration of the event itself. Volunteer roles depend on the event. For a fundraising event like the Annual Benefit, this could include checkin and checkout, food service, bar service, design setup, and auction management. For a soccer tournament like the City Showcase Tournament or Charity Cup, volunteer roles may include, field setup/cleanup, field marshals, information table, referees, and more.

Events needing volunteers include:
Annual Benefit, Midtown, NY - November
City Showcase Tournament, Randalls Island, NY - March/April (Friday and Saturday before Easter)
Literacy Day, Bronx, NY - May
SBU Charity Cup, Macombs Dam Park, Bronx, NY - August
Health and Wellness Fair, Macombs Dam Park, Bronx, NY - September
WHERE
Events are held at various locations throughout NYC.
COMMITMENT
Generally for a day, an evening, or a time slot.
QUALIFICATIONS
Depends on the Role
TRAINING
Special event volunteers will work closely with the program staff and development staff.
BENEFITS
Beyond assisting with event logistics and execution, volunteers will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with fundraising event planning in the nonprofit sector.
