Volunteer and Community Engagement Associate (NYC Civic Corps)
SCOPE
South Bronx United Inc. (SBU) is a sports-based youth development organization that uses soccer as a tool for social change aiming to help youth build character, teamwork, and leadership so they can succeed in high school, college, careers, their community and beyond. SBU serves more than 1,400 young people annually through programming on the field and in the classroom, working to unite a diverse group of students, families, and the South Bronx community toward positive goals. SBU is driven to accomplish our mission and promote the SBU Values of Showing Commitment, Bringing Integrity, and Uniting our Community in all that we do.
South Bronx United seeks a passionate and dynamic individual to join our team as the full-time Volunteer and Community Engagement Associate through NYC Civic Corps. This teammate will support recruitment, screening and engagement of our 300+ volunteers. This individual will also aid in data collection and analyzing that data to support program needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate’s responsibilities will include the following:
Recruitment:
Attend volunteer fairs and other recruitment events.
Ensure that all volunteer positions are posted accurately and frequently on various platforms, such as VolunteerMatch.
Cultivate partnerships with local organizations and institutions to cultivate potential volunteers.
Collaborate with Volunteer Program Manager to streamline partnership management to prompt sustainable annual volunteer needs.
Screening:
Screen and interview potential volunteers for various positions in the organization.
Utilize Salesforce to track volunteer applicants through the screening, interview, and placement process
Ensure volunteer applicants are screened and interviewed within target timelines.
Collaborate with staff to ensure volunteer needs are being appropriately met.
Engagement:
Collaborate with Volunteer Program Manager on engagement strategies.
Collect feedback from volunteers and analyze program needs based on their feedback.
Support volunteer appreciation initiatives.
Data Collection:
Maintain the database of volunteers, which includes volunteer attendance and compliance.
Support with analyzing data to identify program trends and inform recruitment strategies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
Multilingual with a preference for Spanish and/or French
Strong interpersonal skills are a must. We are looking for individuals who are empathetic, culturally aware and adaptable.
Flexibility is key. You will be working with a diverse range of stakeholders, so the ability to adapt to different needs and perspectives is essential.
Enthusiasm with the mission of South Bronx United and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in the South Bronx community.
Comfort attending community-based events around the Bronx/New York City
Strong communication skills and comfort sharing about the mission of SBU
TIME
Monday-Friday 10:00 am- 6:00 pm with occasional evening/weekend hours
ANTICIPATED START DATE
September 2, 2024
